Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About I'MPORTANT

Questions about I’MPORTANT? Here you’ll find answers about our organization and the services we provide. If you have a question that’s not answered here, please feel free to contact us directly.

I’MPORTANT is a mental health advocacy group that focuses on empowering middle and high school students across the tri-state area to embrace their intrinsic self-worth.

At I’MPORTANT we empower students who are struggling with anxiety and depression. Together, we’re building a bridge to brighter days, offering moving towards a positive future that’s both meaningful and impactful.

Through compelling one-hour assemblies at schools, our advocates share their stories in relatable ways – no PowerPoints, just genuine narratives and uplifting music. These presentations open doors to smaller, more targeted group sessions, where students engage in deliberate discussions.

As parents ourselves, we understand the importance of supporting our children’s mental wellness. That’s why I’MPORTANT offers innovative programs tailored for middle and high school students navigating mental health. If you have concerns about your child or another student, please contact the main office of your school during normal school hours to speak to a guidance counselor or mental health provider. Outside of school hours, if possible, reach out to the parent of the concerned student. Otherwise, in case of an emergency, contact 911.

With tailored small group sessions and follow-ups, I’MPORTANT provides personalized support to students, addressing their unique concerns and fostering impactful discussions. This individualized approach helps students feel heard, supported, and empowered to prioritize their mental wellness.

We are open to collaborating with schools interested in our program. Teachers and administrators looking to engage with us can reach out to Alex Meachum directly via email at [email protected].

If you believe the I’MPORTANT program could benefit your child’s school, we encourage you to make a referral. Sharing your insights and experiences with school administrators can help bring valuable mental health education and support to students.

Our engaging presentations, free from PowerPoint, feature authentic narratives and uplifting music that resonate with students, sparking meaningful conversations.
